No new building projects have been approved in seven weeks, since Israel angered the ed States by announcing plans to expand a Jewish neighborhood in East Jerusalem. The announcement scuttled an agreement for new Israeli-Palestinian peace talks and sparked a deep crisis in U.S.-Israel relations. The ed States backs the Palestinian demand that East Jerusalem should be the capital of a future Palestinian state. But Israel sees East Jerusalem as part of its capital and Mr. Netanyahu has said Israel will not stop building there. Publicly, Mr. Netanyahu must appease his coalition partners who oppose any curbs on construction in Jerusalem. But privately, he is trying to mend fences with Washington and pull the Palestinians back to the negotiating table. Israeli analyst Ra'anan Gissin says the prime minister has no choice, but to make concessions through quiet diplomacy. "Benjamin Netanyahu faces a very tough moment," said Gissin. "I mean he is learning the hard way what many other prime ministers in about 30 years have understood, that you first have to negotiate and strike a deal with the ed States before you can even start any contacts with the Palestinian or with the Arab side."The Palestinian response appears positive. In an interview on Israeli television, Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas said he is y to start indirect peace talks.Mr. Abbas said he will meet with Arab League representatives this Saturday to seek approval for resuming negotiations, and he said he hopes to get a green light. So there is cautious optimism on both sides that peace talks will resume next month after a 16-month stalemate.201004/102613Scientists have found zombie ants in the Brazilian rainforests. How can that be? The ants are infected by a fungus. As a matter of fact, scientists have just found four new species of the zombie creating fungus, Ophiocordyceps. You are telling me the fungus turns out the answer to the zombies. Fungi produce little seed like particles called spores. If an ant gets infected by one, the fungus hijacks its brain. Instead of doing its normal chores, the ant starts searching for the ideal location for the fungus to grow. Its not just wonder? No. Scientists have found that infected ants go to specific locations: beneath leaves on the north sides of plants, about ten inches above the ground, in 94-95% humidity, and at 77-86 degrees Fahrenheit temperatures.

Economic Downturn Hits Charities Just about every sector of the economy and every household has been hit by the global economic downturn. But spare a thought for those who rely on charity to get by. The squeeze has spelt disaster for them too. Sara Merchant has more. Just when some people are most in need, others have less to give. In these lean times, greater numbers are relying on charity. But donations are getting harder to raise. Judy Nord hopes her card-making will some day raise money for charity. Her cancer diagnosis forced her to give up paid work. And when she’s not receiving treatment in hospital, she is at home, often worrying about how to survive on benefits of less than 60 pounds a week. The cost of living has risen sharply. And for the first time in her life, she is dependent on help from family and from charity. I saw a lot of people out there that really really do need that support. I wouldn’t have this roof over my head still, that, you know, that would have been gone, cause I just wouldn’t be able to afford the mortgage. I wouldn’t be able to afford the bills or anything. I don’t know. I don’t know where I’ll be. Charities are being squeezed in two ways-- demand for their services has increased by 72% in the last twelve months, but almost a third have suffered falls in donations. That means many charities are having to cut costs by making staff redundant. Gee, for the governments are bailing out the banks who have caused this problem, they need to think about the victims of recession and our work and therefore a financial package to support our work with the victims of recession is important. Corporate donations from the city are dwindling, and falling property prices mean the value of legacies is diminishing. It means there’s more pressure on individuals to be generous. Charity begins at home, I think, at the moment. (I think we will.)If we could afford it, we would donate it. I think I would volunteer as well in different ways than probably just giving money. I still give. You know, I give every month through like on direct debit, so now I don't get it affect me much at all. As tougher times threaten, charities just can’t afford to keep losing.Sara Merchant Sky News. Chelsea Clinton marries in US "royal wedding"Bill and Hillary Clinton's only daughter has married her long-time boyfriend in the picturesque New York village of Rhinebeck in what was dubbed America's royal wedding.Chelsea Clinton -- the only child of the former US president and the US secretary of state -- wed Marc Mezvinsky on Saturday at Astor Courts, an historic 50-acre (20-hectare) estate about 100 miles north of New York City."Today, we watched with great pride and overwhelming emotion as Chelsea and Marc wed in a beautiful ceremony at Astor Courts, surrounded by family and their close friends," Bill and Hillary Clinton said in a statement."We could not have asked for a more perfect day to celebrate the beginning of their life together, and we are so happy to welcome Marc into our family," the statement said.Photos showed the bride and groom walking down a broad outdoor aisle between rows of guests. 曲靖/正规整形美容医院Full-time jobs hard to find With unemployment on the rise, some job hunters rely on part-time work to make ends meet Federal Reserve chairman Ben Bernanke this week said it’s possible the U.S. may be heading into a recession. But millions of Americans believe that we are aly there. Why? Because of the job picture, tens of thousands of people have been losing work, last month 80,000 jobs lost. We are here at an employment center in New Jersey, the state of New Jersey. And Over here, people come to try to find work. Here’s a list of demand occupations in New Jersey, nurses, accountants, teachers, these are some areas where there are companies hiring but it's still not very easy. Let’s have a talk over here with one of the job seekers. His name is Wahid, and Wahid is actually a veteran, he served in Iraq. Wahid, what did you do ah, / in Iraq with the army?I was both a solider linguist for one year and then later for about eighteen months a contract/ linguist. And so now you are looking for work once again?Yes, I am looking for a full time job as an Arabic linguist.I would think that’s a very in-demand position? That’s absolutely right, but most of those positions has to do with money that is allocated by Uncle Sam. So when the money becomes available that’s when I can get the job.But to find something with a private company, you haven’t found a full-time position?I am doing part time translation jobs, till I get the part time, till I get the translation job that will elevate my career. And is that providing enough money or you are doing something else as well?Actually the main income that I have right now is from day trading, because you can not really tell when the money will be allocated for those jobs. So I have to day trade and then do some, few, of few jobs for translation to the market of ....Day trading in stocks?Day trading in stocks…Tough right now,Very tough very risky, but I need at least five hours a day to be able to choose the stocks I buy.Very well, well, good luck with that, Wahid. As you can see this is an economy that it is very difficult for people to find employment, Wahid / even turning to day trading in order to provide income in a very tough market. Tough market not only for employment but also for stock traders as well. For CNN money.com, I am Allen Chernoff.01/60900 Balloon Man's Amazing JourneyHe flew halfway across Oregon using only helium balloonsLast July, Kent Couch, a gas station owner from Bend, Oregon tied 105 helium-filled balloons to a lawn chair and took off. It was beautiful; it was a dream. For 9 hours and 193 miles, it was the fulfillment of a childhood dream. But with dangerous conditions ahead, he had to cut short his goal of reaching Idaho and landed his homemade aircraft. As he told us last year, “I just grabbed my knees and tat in rolls.” Couch was safe on the ground, but a gust of wind took his chair and with it, thousands of dollars of equipment, including the camera that had documented the flight. “It was a successful landing, but not a successful day truly, because I lost my gear.” Then earlier this month, what was lost was found, the chair, the cellphone, GPS and most importantly, the camera. All rediscovered by ranchers on their property just 13 miles from where he landed, and that is simply stunning. “..no airplane, I was just sitting on a lawn chair and balloon.” Floating above airplanes. Gorgeous views of all the bottom, “I’m at 10,000 feet, 25 m/h,” Couch had a tour guide to the skies. "It's hurtling, Jefferson." And you even get to see how he flew. He cut off or popped the balloons when he got too high, let the helium out and others, accidentally inhaling some of the helium at one point. A ride out of a childhood fantasy, and now, the to prove it, “enjoy a view there?” “Yes, beautiful!”And here he is with us in the steel and concrete mountains of New York City. Kent Couch, it’s so great to see you again. It must have been stunning when you got the call, when they had the , they found your chair. Oh, I was excited; I thought I would never find it again. I was sure it was gone. Yeah, It seemed to be after all that time. Alright, I wanna take a look again for everybody who missed the first time at this little vehicle that you put together? Show us again how you did it. You sat, you sat in and strapped yourself in?You see, but I just, no, you don’t have to strap yourself in, it’s a pretty comfortable lawn (chair) it is, you’re not really gonna go anywhere.Right. Yeah. And this was your camera? That was the footage I'd lost. (Right) I kind of set it up, panoramic. And how many balloons did you have to have lift you off the ground?Well, I had 105, I wanted a few extras and that gave me the lift I needed. Okay, now, show us how the helium worked and you would released a little of the helium.Well, you can grab a balloon, ah, grab a balloon, say, just let it out, (Right) and you can float it through the . Can I hold it for you? All right!I have got fingernailes here! Can I say that everybody at home do not try this, this is serious. So, if you want to let out a little bit, you do that. You can just let it out, take it in, if you want to do it.Kind of I fetch your voice a little bit. ..........I can let it out and come down a little ways if the weather permit it. And how far do you want to go?Well, I definitely gonna make it to Idaho this time, hopefully, two, three or four hundred miles. Can you do anything differently?Well, I got a few plans. I’ve got GPS tracking on the chair and myself, and more balloons, more water for a ballast.Yep. And more food?Yeah, I’ll take a few more snacks along. Alright, well, take us with you.
